Changes to flexible working requests

Written by: | |

At the moment, employees must have more than 26 weeks’ service under their belt in order to request flexible hours.

But did you know that, thanks to the new amendment to the Flexible Working Regulations that’s about to come into play, flexible working is set to become a right from the first day of employment as of 6th April 2024? Plus, employees can submit a request twice a year, instead of once a year.

Employers can still refuse the request as long as they have a good business reason to do so – but the move should open up doors for many staff members who are juggling multiple commitments or just recognise that they work more productively in a different pattern.
