Carer's Leave Bill

Written by: |

We’ve touched on this before – but here’s a timely reminder for employers that the Carer’s Leave Bill is on track to come into force in 2024 after being approved in the House of Lords back in May.

The new law will enable employees to take up to one week of unpaid carer’s leave every year (not necessarily all in one go).

We’re expecting more information on how the Bill will work shortly, but it’s likely that carers will be able to self-certify their care responsibilities, without the need to provide evidence to their employer. Employers can also choose to pay any employees taking carer’s leave at their own discretion.
